Shadows of Reality: A Tale of Resilience and Hope

It wasn't easy, let me tell you,

Days of cleaning and working through,

Making beds, scrubbing floors,

Commutes that seemed like endless chores.

Paintings to sell, soap to make,

Websites and social media to take,

Friends and family lending a hand,

Helping me stand, helping me withstand.

But here I am, breathing a sigh,

Grateful to have made it by.

Everything costs more, it's true,

Yet not in a tent, on streets so blue.

In Vancouver, where shadows creep,

Many women, in silence, weep.

Living in tents, their only retreat,

A reality that feels so bleak.

Just yesterday, a stabbing spree,

Violence that no one wants to see.

Set on fire, shot in the night,

Insanity blinding the city's light.

For six months in Mexico, I pray,

That back home, a brighter day.

Social programs, hearts that care,

For women everywhere.

Mothers, sisters, daughters, grandmas too,

Deserve more than what they've been through.

Humanity lost in a sea of greed,

Where dollars matter more than those in need.

Imagine your grandma, forced to roam,

In a country that should be home.

First world shame, billionaires' game,

Power and money, yet all the same.

Article 25, human rights we claim,

A standard of living, not just a name.

Health, well-being, and security's grace,

For all, regardless of their place.
