The Conviction Without Chains
"The Conviction Without Chains"
A courtroom buzzes, echoes deep,
Where justice bows but does not leap.
A gavel falls, the sentence bare,
No prison walls, no cross to bear.
A man of gold, his deeds in gray,
Walks free beneath the law’s array.
The ink dries cold, the crowd despairs,
As power laughs at moral snares.
"Find the votes," the phone once cried,
Hushes bought, and truths denied.
Yet here he stands, unscathed, unbound,
While trust in law lies underground.
DNA offered, a gun revoked,
A punishment that’s only joked.
The felon king ascends the throne,
A world of shadows he calls home.
What of the hearts that sought the right?
What of the dark that dims the light?
This theater plays a tragic tune,
Where wolves still dance beneath the moon.
So we watch, dismayed, this strange ballet,
Where justice kneels and walks away.
The world turns on, a tilted sphere,
Where truth feels distant, justice unclear.
