Let Us Eat Cake, BC Edition
🎂 Let Us Eat Cake, BC Edition 🎂
(by Tina Winterlik aka Zipolita)
They paved over paradise and called it “the dream,”
While condos rose up and rents made us scream.
The forests were logged, the rivers were sold—
Yet stories of Land Back remain brave and bold.
They celebrate BC Day with flags in the air,
But where is the justice? Where’s even a chair
For those pushed aside, displaced or ignored,
While the wealthy get tax breaks and trophies and more?
Indigenous nations still fight for their say,
While billionaires fly overhead in ballet.
We’re tired of waiting, this hunger is real—
We need more than speeches and “economic deals.”
So break out the fondant and fire up the bake—
You want to appease us?
Then where's the free cake?! 🎂
