Salish Equinox
Salish Equinox
Morning hush, a silver tide,
Where cedar dreams and salmon glide.
The sky exhales a mist so light,
As winter wanes in dawn’s soft light.
Cherry blossoms, pale and bright,
Unfurl their petals to the light.
Drifting down like ocean foam,
A fleeting crown where spirits roam.
The ooligan run—a silver thread,
Ancient rhythms, hunger fed.
Eagle circles, watchful, wise,
Spring returns in ocean’s sighs.
Beneath the boughs of trembling pink,
The land awakens, stops to drink.
Equinox stands, a breath, a gate,
Between the seasons, small yet great.
So step with care, the earth is new,
The winds are soft, the rivers true.
The Coast still sings, as it has before—
Balance found on Salish shore.
