A Note from a Storm Listener

ðŸŒž Solar Sensitive: A Note from a Storm Listener

by Tina Winterlik aka Zipolita

Some days I feel it before it hits —
a hum in the bones,
a ringing in the ears,
like the sky is whispering too loud.

They call it a storm —
but not of wind or rain.
This one rides the sun’s breath,
carried in light,
invisible but undeniable.

My tummy aches,
my head swims,
my ears fill with songs no one else hears.
And the world shrugs —
“Just your imagination,” they say.

But I know better.
I always have.

I’ve been solar sensitive since childhood.
I felt the air bend before quakes,
sensed grief before phones rang,
heard thunder when the skies were clear.

The Earth speaks in frequencies,
and I listen.

Maybe it makes me strange.
Maybe it makes me strong.
But I won’t apologize
for feeling what the world forgets to notice.

So if you feel dizzy today,
or unsettled without reason —
You’re not broken.
You’re tuning in.

Go outside.
Let the wind recalibrate you.
Let the wheels of your bike or your feet
remind your body it belongs here.
And when the storm quiets —
write it down.
Share it.
So others know they’re not alone either.
